REALTIME are on the lookout for a new Lead Animator to join our expanding Animation team. With lots of exciting projects coming up, we are searching for the right talent to add a new permanent member of our team who can work alongside our Animation Director to deliver across a broad range of projects within both Games and Episodic.
We are looking for a very talented Animator who has a wealth of experience in keyframe animation as well as being comfortable with working with motion capture data.
This role would be suited to a creative Animator with a good technical knowledge in order to be both hands on and guide/mentor other animators.
Working at REALTIME, you will be expected to build relationships with the senior team (Animation Director, Art Director, Character TD) and you will report directly to the Animation Director.
This position is open for working either in our studios (Manchester, Westby) or for remote work from home.
You will need to take on board and deliver the direction from the Animation Director or the project Director.
You will be working across various types of projects (TV series, commercials, video games’ cinematics and trailers ...) animating all kinds of characters, creatures, animals or moving objects.
You will have the responsibility to overview sequences and to assure that the quality benchmark anticipated is being hit by the artists of your team.
You will be expected to assist the other animators within the team to improve their artistic and technical knowledge to bring the overall result to a high and equal calibre
You will need to deliver shots within set timescales ensuring that the Project Directors and Production team are kept up to date by providing relevant documentation.
You might be involved in some mocap shooting and might be asked to perform in the mocap suit.
Depending on your artistic skill, you might be invited to contribute to some designs that could help the course of the animation process: blendshapes, anatomical references, poses … these would be used for the production process and might be used later for communicating on the public relation and on making of
Have an understanding of visual storytelling.
Needs to have strong knowledge of the animation principles and be able to convey them
Be particularly good at posing, weight, clear silhouette, timing, flows and can convey emotion through performance
Proficient in both key-frame and motion capture workflows
Understands different production workflows
Have good knowledge of the usage of camera and editing
Ability to work under tight deadlines
Proficient in Maya however knowledge in 3DSmax and UE is a plus
Driven to provide the highest quality of work
7+ years animation experience with at least the delivery of one AAA Games IP or a High end TV project.
Have experience of leading small animation teams.
Experience with performance capture pipelines would be preferred
Have an understanding of working with game engines would be beneficial
Experience of rigging or having generalist 3d skills or any scripting experience would be a plus
