We have made the exciting decision to grow out our Leadership team with the introduction of a Chief Engineer into REALTIME due to a really successful period of natural growth over the past few years.

We are currently looking for someone to be at the forefront of Technology across REALTIME working with our existing IT Infrastructure team and our Pipeline team to really take us to the next level.

What you will be doing:

• Developing the long-term strategy and future growth plan for all IT & Technology for the business, which encompasses Pipeline, hardware and software.
• Looking at ways to improve overall productivity and efficiency for the entire business, harnessing the best available Pipeline, hardware and software innovations to achieve this
• Staying up to date with relevant technology and conduct necessary research, prototyping and testing to assess emerging technology options that may benefit the business. 
• Contributing towards winning new projects by developing creative technology solutions and proposals in response to client briefs, in keeping with project goals, timings and budget.  

• Ensuring the successful delivery of projects but also able to be flexible with technical approaches required to adapt to the demands of individual projects.
• Collaborating closely with the Heads of each Business Unit and individual VFX departments to share pipeline innovations and improvements as well as helping to integrate department platforms and tools.
• Managing the overall IT team, including Helpdesk, Systems Admin and Pipeline Team
• Working with the Head of Pipeline to develop the strategic direction of the studio and overseeing the implementation by Head of Pipeline

• Developing the Render strategy / capacity for the studio and deploying new render techniques / capabilities and ensuring they are effectively deployed
• Developing and implementing strategies to improve artist utilization technically across the studio
• Leading the improvement in the use of Shotgrid to track utilization, track projects, report progress of projects, schedule etc
• Work with Operations to integrate budgets into Shotgrid and use Shotgrid for bidding and task estimates for budgeting using AI.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Engineering
• Have ACES colour workflow / colour workflow knowledge for ingesting and delivering 4k / HD / UHD Episodic projects
• Knowledge of 3D exchange formats for meshes, materials, animations and textures. 
• Solid software engineering skills, including the ability to write robust, maintainable, well-architected, well-documented code. 
• Experience creating artist content creation tools. 
• Experience with motion capture equipment such as Xsens and experience working with Third Party Motion Capture Studios. 
• Working knowledge of prototyping and building large environments, synchronized visual effects, and particle systems.
• 10+ years of experience in the TV, Film and/or Games Visual Effects Industry
• 5 + years of experience managing and leading technology teams within a VFX environment
• 5+ years developing and leading the VFX Rendering and Pipeline process;
  Expert knowledge of Maya, V Ray, Karma, Renderman, Houdini, Nuke

Nice To Have:

• Knowledge of - 3DS Max, Unreal, Shotgrid
• Proficiency in Python and C++.
• Strong working knowledge of  Mel, Maya
• Experience leveraging AI & Machine Learning for tooling and artistic purposes.
