REALTIME is on the lookout for an experienced Houdini Generalist TD to work with our talented Episodic Team.
As a Houdini TD, you will be working across the ecosystem of Houdini, working alongside and guiding our team by creating tools that fit seamlessly into the Houdini pipeline. The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator, an experienced CG Generalist, and has a passion for creating tools.
You will work alongside our CG and VFX Supervisors to determine the methodology and requirements needed to achieve the desired look for specific CG projects, as well as help to guide a small CG team at a creative and technical level.
We are looking for someone to join our core team in a permanent or long-term freelance role.

Responsibilities
- Use a wide range of skills to create CG images or shots. Understand the wider goals of the project and work with the project supervisor to fulfill the needs of a subset within those goals.
- Be proactive in recommending technical or artistic methods
- Technically coordinate a team of artists, ensuring good and clear communication between artists, the production team, the technology teams, and the VFX supervisors.
- Collaborate with supervisors and directors to ensure quality is achieved on time and within budget
- Ensure an efficient pipeline and successfully deliver CG elements for the shots on your projects
- Assist junior artists with their shots and explain our techniques and industry-wide working practice.
- Provide information on workload in production meetings and highlight possible issues
- Be aware of any data-sharing issues including file formats and standardization, colorspace issues, etc. related to your shots and the whole project.
- Collaborate with outsource vendors and other production partners on all shot and data-sharing issues. Liaising with your supervisor on any major technical calls.
Required Skills
- Demonstrates the ability to prioritize tasks, and manage time well, providing everyone with accurate time estimates on shot task completion.
- Demonstrates an excellent knowledge of how to use the tools to achieve the desired look.
- Good understanding of the end-to-end VFX/Animation Pipeline.
- Pro-activity and problem-solving.
- Good experience in rendering techniques
- Well-versed with Maya and Houdini.
- A solid understanding of USD and alembic workflows.
- As a generalist, you will need to know and/or be happy to learn a few of these skills: Matchmove, Modeling, Texturing, Lookdev, Layout, Animation, Set Dressing, Environment, Matte Painting, Lighting, FX, and Compositing.
Education / Experience
5+ years of relevant experience either in VFX for TV and Film, advertising, or video games cinematics/trailers.
